Heartland Projects can help - by using the power of images to tell your story.

We live and work in a visually sophisticated world therefore high quality imagery can play a crucial part for you or your organisation.
Images, more than ever, reach out to people and serve as an instigator for interaction and connectivity - they take stories beyond plain text; they provide context for the viewer; make memorable associations; and are an effective way to add authenticity to your story  - all resulting in a deeper engagement with your content.

Compelling stories with the right visual content are the path to engagement.

Using the visual narrative craft and communications/marketing/media expertise we have honed over many years Heartland Projects can work with you to foster grassroots and emotional connections with your audience and help distil your unique story into a powerful visual tale.

Emma was so easygoing and fun to work with. I just needed a couple of new portrait shots for our new company website, but I turned this into an exploration of archetypes and various styles. She respected my ideas and made me feel very much at ease in front of the camera. She took all the time we needed and never seemed rushed or keen to finish up. Emma is very in tune with her clients; it seemed to me that she has a profound knack at reading them quickly and deeply, without making much noise about that fact. Beyond this interpersonal strength, Emma brings sound technical skills and a creative eye for detail. I am very grateful for having had the opportunity to work with her.

Imagery can be utilised in so many ways after the event (websites, blog posts, social media, print marketing, publishing) and in our visual world an image speaks much louder than words for helping to understand your message. With her training in photojournalism and interest in fly-on-the-wall documentation, Emma Byrnes has worked with all manner of clients including artists, not-for-profits, corporations and educational institutions to cover special occasions, art installations, fund-raisers, concerts and more.

”Working with Emma on our projects has been a game changer in how the creative works of Fair Share Fare are documented. Her ability to place herself within the artist’s lens means that she captures the moments that matter - the big picture, nuances, subtleties and aesthetics of what can be very complex projects. She listens, comprehends the scope and is always present. Her stealth modus operandi means that she can get behind the scenes and within performances without ever detracting from what is at play between subjects, performers and public participants. I value Emma’s contributions and considered approach, so much so, that I see her as an integral part of the creative team in planning and sharing the story of Fair Share Fare’s work to various audiences.”

THE BENEFITS OF DOCUMENTATION

Often documentation is the only evidence from non-permanent work, such as performances, art installations, popup events, etc. In fact it will be the only thing that survives and can actually become the work itself! This is why it is very important to budget and plan for this essential step in your marketing plan/art process.

ENTERING THE CREATIVE SPACE

Exploration is often the first step when photographing creative people in their spaces and I’ve learnt that it’s OK to go in blind and stumble around for a while to get my bearings. In fact it is the most magical way to undertake the brief. Maintaining my child-like curiosity can help formulate the story.

TIME FOR A BRAND REFRESH?

Does it feel like the ethos and principles of your brand are still relevant but the execution isn’t as elegant and effective as it could be? If your answer is YES but the idea of a refresh fills you with a deep-seated fear of the endless hours you will lose as you go deep and attempt to reinvent the wheel (or in this case, your brand) - there is absolutely no need to fret.

PHILOSOPHY AND OUTPUT

I do not think of my work-life as being part of a rat race. Instead I have made a conscious effort to carve out my own pace by working with people whose philosophy and output matches my own ideals. And I see my photography involving much more than being just a tool that produces pictures. This craft allows me to make genuine human connections and intimate observations.
